If the federal Liberal government continues restricting the development and export of Alberta’s petroleum resources, where does it expect to find the revenue to fund its ever-expanding social programs and government services?

You cannot continually increase government spending while undermining the industries that generate the jobs, investment and tax revenues needed to sustain it.

For context, Natural Resources Canada’s 2026 Energy Fact Book reports that Canada’s energy sector generated an average of $28.9 billion annually in government revenues between 2020 and 2024, across federal and provincial governments. That’s a substantial contribution to public finances, yet Ottawa continues to impose barriers to the sector’s growth.

A strong economy pays for social programs, not the other way around.

Removing restrictions on the tankers is absolutely essential for the economic development for both BC and Alberta
