Campaign Roundup - Day 26:
- Today is the last day of advance voting. Polling stations are open until 8:00 pm. The next opportunity to vote will be on election day - October 19th. More information is available on the Elections BC website.
- Over half a million British Columbians have already voted in advance polls for the 2024 provincial election. Despite the increase in advance voting, political experts caution that this trend doesn't necessarily predict overall voter turnout or indicate support for any particular party. The rise in early voting is mainly being attributed to increased convenience and accessibility.
- The BC NDP did not make any new policy announcements today, in the final days of the election campaign. Candidates instead urged people to vote in advance polls.
- The BC Conservatives, however, continued to roll out their platform, promising to expand the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital with a new patient tower and a catheterization lab for cardiac patients.
- The BC Green Party criticized the BC Conservatives’ newly released platform, calling it “backward-looking, half-formed” and suggesting it relies on “magical thinking”.
- Global News has detailed their election coverage plans. They include real-time results and analysis across TV, radio, and online platforms. The Decision BC special will air from 7:00 pm to 11:30 pm with updates from reporters at party headquarters and live results for all 93 ridings.
